They watched in amazement as about 10 police cars drew up and officers deployed with rifles drawn as a helicopter buzzed overhead. One by one, they walked backward down the steps, were searched and handcuffed and were told to sit on a guardrail.

They were confused and frightened, thinking inevitably of the familiar litany of arrests gone horribly awry. Andrew Shaw, 17, who wants to own his own publishing business, recalled listening intently as each of his friends was taken off the bus, alert for any sounds of a stumble or something much worse.

They felt humiliated as troopers seemed unconcerned when drivers got out of their cars to take pictures of them while they sat handcuffed. “I’m sure they thought what I probably would have thought — that we must have done something really bad to put ourselves that situation,” Justine Seales, 16, said.

Finally, no gun found, northbound traffic shut down for an hour, the youths were set free, with no apology or attempt to defuse the tension and hurt other than brusque explanations that the officers were just following protocol.

Pansexuality is when you are attracted to people of all gender identities, no matter their biological sex, and all orientations. Meaning it doesn’t matter if you’re a girl who was once a boy, a girl who is still a girl but claims male sexuality, a straight guy, a lesbian, a transgendered homosexual and so forth— it doesn’t matter.
Bisexuality is simply the attraction to males and females— period.
There is a difference. Stop it.

I prefer queer because it has a more political connotation than pansexual.

But seriously, fuck bisexuality and fuck the gender binary.

when pressed, this is the language that i use…but i don’t need to put a label on my love. it can be empowering, but it can also be confining (even with broader terms like these).
